Job description

Trent University invites applications for one 3-year limited-term appointment (LTA) in the Department of Philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing August 15, 2022. This position is located at the Peterborough Campus and is subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates are expected to have a completed Ph.D., an active research program in the area of Biomedical Ethics, demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, and a demonstrable capacity to teach online. The successful candidate will teach seven half-credit courses—three in the fall semester, three in the winter semester and one in the summer semester.  In the first year, the successful candidate will receive a half-credit course release in the summer to work with Trent Online to redevelop Trent’s existing online course on Biomedical Ethics. We expect the successful candidate will teach the following combination of courses in the fall and winter semesters at our Peterborough campus and online with the flexibility to implement alternative modes of teaching in the event on-campus courses are interrupted.

PHIL 1100H: Introduction to Philosophy—Moral and Political

PHIL 2390H: Biomedical Ethics (in-person)

PHIL 2390H: Biomedical Ethics (online)

Winter

PHIL 1100H: Introduction to Philosophy—Moral and Political

PHIL 2390H: Biomedical Ethics (online)

PHIL 4390H: Advanced Topics in Biomedical Ethics

Summer
