The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track term assistant professor position, appointment beginning August 1, 2022. Position is renewable for one additional year because it is replacing a faculty member on a two-year leave.

Teaching responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate courses; normally six classes per academic year, usually with multiple sections of specific courses. We expect to be able to offer a starting salary of $42,000. Summer and winter teaching may be undertaken for additional pay.

The successful candidate must demonstrate readiness to teach PHIL 207 Introduction to Philosophy through Cultural Diversity. Preference for candidates who are able to complement our curriculum, including especially those prepared to teach noncanonical traditions (African American, Latin American/Latinx, and Indigenous Philosophies), or any period in the history of Philosophy, western or nonwestern. Further, candidates should be prepared to meet the department's commitment to integrate the contributions of nonwhite and non-male philosophers, and non-Eurocentric philosophical traditions, into every course.

All requirements for the Ph.D. in Philosophy must be completed by June 30, 2022. (ABD candidates may be hired but would have the rank of Instructor and earn a lower salary, until completion of the PhD.)
