The OU Department of Philosophy welcomes applicants for a two-year Post-doctoral Teaching Scholar. AOS is Early Modern Philosophy and AOC is open. Inter-disciplinary work is encouraged and contact with faculty outside the Philosophy Department will be facilitated if desired. Other professional development support is available, such as funding for travel, teaching and pedagogy trainings, and opportunities for teaching advanced courses.

The duties of this position include a 2/2 teaching load (including sections of Introductory Business Ethics) and some light departmental service work, designed to provide essential professional experience at the departmental service level. The duration of the postdoc is two years. The goal is to provide an early-career philosophy PhD with the experience of a tenure-track appointment while providing extensive mentorship support in teaching, scholarship, and service.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant intellectual community that prizes the ability to converse across philosophical traditions and sub-disciplines and values interdisciplinary engagement. We are especially interested in applications from qualified candidates who are committed to practicing philosophy in an inclusive and cooperative mode, while achieving rigor and excellence in their research and teaching. • demonstrated commitment to pedagogical approaches that foster the success of students from diverse backgrounds and levels of preparation

Application deadline is May 15, 2022.

Submit all application materials (letter of interest, CV, writing sample, 3 letters of recommendation, statement of teaching philosophy, and evidence of teaching excellence) to Professor Wayne Riggs at [email protected].
