Instructor (Three-Year, Renewable Position) (EXPIRED)

The Philosophy Department at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track instructor position to begin August 22, 2022. The successful applicant will teach four undergraduate courses per semester, eight courses per school year, with the possibility for teaching one course in the summer (not guaranteed in advance). For purposes of performance evaluation, the workload for this position is 85% teaching / 15% service / 0% research. While this position does not involve research activity, the Department recognizes that one’s research can contribute to one’s teaching excellence. Candidates with a record of conference presentations and/or publications should therefore include relevant information about their research record with their applications. Note: some instructors choose to work on a 75% (3 courses per semester) appointment rather than 100% (4 courses per semester) basis. An agreement on which best serves the successful applicant, and the department will be worked out at the time the offer is made.

While the Department has a variety of teaching needs, we are especially interested in candidates who can teach some of the following courses, which are currently understaffed: Bioethics; Philosophy and Race; Philosophy and Gender; Global Justice; War and Morality; Environmental Ethics; Ethics and Information Technology; Philosophy and Sports.
