Position Summary:

The Philosophy Department in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts is collecting application materials for a pool of part-time lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2022-23 academic year. We have specific needs in Feminist Philosophy (PHIL 357), The Meaning of Life (PHIL 207), Health Ethics (PHIL 327W) and Justice and Global Issues (PHIL 341W). We are primarily looking for instructors to teach in person. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a master's degree in philosophy or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with the degree of PhD (or equivalent), teaching experience, and expertise in subjects relevant to the department's teaching needs. Bilingual candidates will be given preference.

Responsibilities:

Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of teaching undergraduate courses. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department:

The Philosophy Department offers a bachelor's degree as well as a minor in Philosophy and a minor in Ethics. There are about thirty students enrolled in the major. The bulk of the department's instruction serves undergraduate students in lower- and upper-division general education.
