Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) in Philosophy (Logic & Language) (EXPIRED)

The University of St Andrews invites applications for an Associate Lectureship (Education Focused), within the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies. The position will have a fixed-term contract for 12 months, commencing on 1st September 2022.

The main purpose of the post is to provide undergraduate and possibly MLitt teaching in the philosophy of logic and philosophy of language, and related areas. The post-holder will give lectures, seminars, tutorials, and may be asked to coordinate modules and carry out other standard teaching and administrative tasks as required. It is anticipated that the main modules to which it is likely that the post-holder will contribute will be PY4601 Paradoxes (3rd/4th-year undergraduate), PY5102 Current Issues in Philosophy 2 (philosophy of language component, MLitt), PY3100 Reading Philosophy 1 (3rd-year undergraduate) and PY2012 Meaning and Knowing (2nd-year undergraduate). There may, however, be some variation in the details of this, depending on the expertise of the persons appointed for this and for other positions.

Candidates will hold a doctorate in philosophy at the time of appointment and will be expected to show a commitment to outstanding teaching at all levels, from first-year undergraduate teaching to contributing to postgraduate teaching.
