The University of St Andrews invites applications for an Associate Lectureship (Education Focused), within the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies. The position will have a fixed-term contract for 12 months, commencing on 1st September 2022. The main purpose of the post is to provide undergraduate and possibly MLitt teaching in the philosophy of law, in other areas of moral and political philosophy, and related areas. The post-holder will give lectures, seminars, tutorials, and may be asked to coordinate modules and carry out other standard teaching and administrative tasks as required. It is anticipated that the main modules to which it is likely that the post-holder will contribute will be PY4643 Philosophy of Law (3rd/4th-year undergraduate), PY1011 Moral and Political Controversies (1st-year undergraduate), PY3200 Reading Philosophy 2 (3rd-year undergraduate) and PY2013 Moral and Aesthetic Value (2nd-year undergraduate). There may, however, be some variation in the details of this, depending on the expertise of the persons appointed for this and for other positions. Candidates will hold a doctorate in philosophy, or a cognate discipline, at the time of appointment and will be expected to show a commitment to outstanding teaching at all levels, from first-year undergraduate teaching to contributing to postgraduate teaching.
