Job description

The College of Idaho invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin in Fall 2023. We seek candidates whose teaching, research, and service will contribute to our commitment to an equitable and inclusive learning and work environment.

The area of specialization is open, but the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to our divisional learning outcome of “engagement with non-dominant cultures and cultural products.” The successful candidate will be a generalist able to teach Critical Thinking/Introduction to Logic, Early Modern Philosophy (broadly conceived), and a wide range of electives that are accessible to non-majors (including upper-division courses in the candidate’s specialization).

Qualifications

A terminal degree in philosophy is required. ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.

Boise also offers a rich selection of arts and culture activities with the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Opera Idaho, Ballet Idaho, Boise Contemporary Theater, the Boise Philharmonic, Treefort Music Fest, and the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial as part of the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights.
