Copy Editor (EXPIRED)

The APA Blog is looking for a copy editor. The APA Blog reports on issues of concern to APA members, including professional philosophers and philosophically-inclined members of society. It has multiple “beats”, or areas it covers: research, diversity and inclusion, teaching, work/life balance, and public philosophy. The Blog is funded by the American Philosophical Association and staffed by philosophy scholars.

The job of a copy editor is to review posts for the Blog for spelling, grammar, style, and understandability, using the APA Blog Style Guidelines as a rubric. Copy editors must work with each other and the editorial staff to complete their work before each post’s date of publication, using the WordPress system to edit pieces. As copy editors are the last step before publication, they need to ensure that all Blog pieces are professional and flawless when the posts are scheduled. Currently, copy editors will need to review 3-6 posts per week, but that may change over time.
