Hong Kong PhD Fellowship (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at Lingnan University, which is one of the strongest in analytic philosophy in Asia, is interested in supporting applications for the prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). Each Fellowship awardee will be provided with a monthly stipend of HK$27,100 (subject to annual review) and a conference/research-related travel allowance of up to HK$13,600 per year (subject to annual review), for a maximum period of 3 years. (US $1 = HK$7.8). Their first-year tuition fee (HK$42,100 in 2022-2023) will be waived.

Those with first class undergraduate degrees and/or (predicted) distinctions in their MA/MPhil degrees are especially encouraged to apply. Over the past four years, a good number of applicants we have supported have secured these fellowships.

Applicants interested in pursuing postgraduate studies (PhD and MPhil) may also apply to the University directly from 1 November 2022 to 20 January 2023. These applications will not go through the government-funding agency (UGC) but will be evaluated exclusively by the Department. Postgraduate Studentships are awarded to full-time MPhil/PhD students to support their daily subsistence, tuition fee and other expenses they may incur during the course of their studies. The current monthly stipend is HK$17,910 for an MPhil student; HK$18,170 for a PhD student before confirmation of candidature; and HK$18,520 for a PhD student after confirmation of candidature.
