Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Skidmore College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Non-European Philosophy at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning in Fall 2023. Ph.D. in philosophy is desired, although strong ABD candidates in philosophy will be considered. We encourage applications from individuals with identities historically underrepresented in academic philosophy as well as individuals who have experience working with diverse student populations and who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, scholarship, and service. The faculty member in this position will teach introductory philosophy courses and courses at the 200- and 300-level in their areas of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to broaden the course offerings of Skidmore’s philosophy curriculum, described here:https://www.skidmore.edu/philosophy/. Within the context of a 3-2 teaching load, the position also includes teaching a first-year interdisciplinary seminar (open topic) on rotation.
