Assistant Professor of Philosophy Western New England University and the College of Arts and Science invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track, starting Fall 2023. Area of Specialty: Open, analytical philosophy only. Area of Competence: biomedical ethics or closely related expertise. Qualified candidates will have the ability to teach courses in philosophy of science and technology. The teaching load is generally 8 courses per year/4 per semester to an undergraduate student audience. We seek candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a desire to be involved with the wider University community in addition to promoting the study of philosophy. Teaching will include courses on Biomedical Ethics, Ethics of Digital Technologies, Ethics, and Introduction to Philosophy. The department welcomes the development of courses in the applicant’s particular areas of interest, as well. The department is also research active, with a number of well-published scholars; Scholarship (proportional to teaching obligations) is expected with this position and course release time may be available for research. Applicants must have a Ph.D. prior to appointment. Teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.
