Assistant or Associate Professor (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York, is seeking a faculty colleague at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured) in the field of Ontology.

AOS: Applied ontology or scientifically informed metaphysics (i.e., the metaphysics of, or the philosophy of, one or more natural or social sciences, with a focus on the ontology of those sciences)

AOC: Any area related to AOS

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to UB's growing Applied Ontology focus within the PhD program in Philosophy. This will include roles as instructor and mentor to students in the philosophy department, including those within the Applied Ontology focus, as well as contributing to grant applications in Applied Ontology. Teaching will include philosophy courses at the undergraduate, Masters, and PhD level. Course load is two courses per term (2/2), plus usual advising duties. Normal departmental, university, and discipline-relative service duties will be expected of the successful candidate.

Applications must be received by December 10, 2022 for full consideration. Late applications will be considered up to January 10, 2023. Semi-finalists will be contacted for videoconference interviews. Finalists will be invited to campus, if conditions allow.
