Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy- The Lyon College Religion and Philosophy Program invites applications for a tenure-track appointment of Assistant Professor of Philosophy beginning fall of 2023. Applicants must have a familiarity with and strong commitment to the liberal arts as well as a record of scholarly activity that would continue at Lyon College and, preferably, involve undergraduates. Specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary background and interests, who are capable of teaching philosophy courses addressing gender, race, class, sexual orientation, from the perspective of western and non-western philosophical traditions. As part of a small Religion and Philosophy program, the philosophy professor will be teaching introductory courses that meet core liberal arts requirements in religion and philosophy (such as World Philosophies and World Religions) as well as upper-level courses in philosophy for the Religion and Philosophy major. The teaching load is seven courses per academic year. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. and evidence of prior teaching experience.
