Job Details Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Philosophy, UCD School of Philosophy, Permanent (Commencing September 2023) Applications are invited for a Permanent (commencing 1 September 2023) post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Philosophy within UCD School of Philosophy. UCD School of Philosophy is seeking to appoint at least one position in Philosophy. The School has teaching and supervision needs in both of the following areas: 1) Philosophy of Mind (broadly understood), consciousness and embodiment. 2) Post-Kantian European Philosophy, including hermeneutics; aesthetics; contemporary French and German philosophy; phenomenology. Please note that we are seeking to make an appointment in either of the above areas; therefore candidates whose teaching and research specialisation is in one of the above areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates will show clear potential as a highly research-active philosopher and will be enthusiastic and flexible in contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. They will be keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a pluralist School that prizes collegiality, has a vibrant research culture and is deeply committed to teaching and learning. The ability to deliver research-led teaching in either Philosophy of Mind (broadly understood) or Post-Kantian European Philosophy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential. We have teaching needs in the following undergraduate modules specifically: Philosophy of Mind; European Philosophy, including Art and Society; Philosophy and Literature; Existentialism and Humanism; Philosophy of Interpretation. We have teaching needs in the following postgraduate programmes: MA in Consciousness and Embodiment; MA in European Philosophy; MA in Philosophy and Literature. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in either of the two relevant areas and will have proven teaching skills in either of these areas. The person appointed will be expected to contribute significantly to research and teaching in either Philosophy of Mind (broadly understood) or Post-Kantian European Philosophy, but also work closely with colleagues in the School from all areas of Philosophy. 95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar Salary scale: €58,206 - €92,172 per annum Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 27th of January 2023.
