Professor Classical Philology (EXPIRED)

The University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, invites applications for a position of

Full Professor or Assistant-professor (tenure-track) of Classical Philology (100%)

Job description: The successful candidate will teach at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the domains of Greek and Latin languages, literatures and cultures. She/he will submit research projects and participate to the activities of the Institute of Archaeology and Sciences of Antiquity. The research profile will be in philology and will involve scholarly work on texts such as commentaries, scientific editions and translations. Publications in the two domains (Greek and Latin texts) are desirable.

The teaching commitment amounts to 7 (Full Professor) or 4 periods (Assistant professor) of 45 minutes per week each semester. She/he will conduct high-level international research in classical philology and supervise Master’s and PhD theses.

Requirements: Applicants must hold a doctorate, have a strong record of scholarly publications and have excellent teaching skills. Courses will be taught in French. Non-French speakers are expected to teach in French after a two-year period.

Starting date: August 1st, 2023, or upon agreement.
