Applications are invited for the following positions, which will be tenable from mid-August 2012 or by mutual agreement thereafter: The Department now invites applications for two substantiation(tenure)-track positions, one at the rank of Assistant Professor, and the other one at the rank of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor subject to the qualifications and experience of the appointee. For both positions, the area of specialization is open. The Department has a preference for applicants with competence in teaching Chinese philosophy. Applicants must be prepared to teach core courses in Critical Thinking and/or Moral Philosophy as well as advanced subjects in the area of specialization. All applicants should have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline. For appointment as a Professor, applicants should have substantial research and teaching experience with significant scholarly publications in leading journals and academic achievements. For appointment as an Associate Professor, applicants should have at least five years of relevant experience and a sound track record in research and scholarly activities. For appointment as an Assistant Professor, applicants should have relevant teaching experience and a good research record. Applicants are required to provide information on their research records and evidence of quality teaching. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. Administrative experience will be a distinct advantage. The successful appointees are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and services to the Department and the University community, and to engage actively in quality research and publication. The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, housing benefits and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointees. Appointments will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, are renewable for longer-term appointments or substantiation. For new appointee at the rank of Professor, a ppointment with substantiation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
