Job description |
The Department of Philosophy and the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) Program seek to appoint a non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor(s) to begin July 1, 2023. Initial appointments will be for a term of 1 year with the possibility of renewal for two more years. Area of study is in social and political philosophy or another area directly connected to PPE. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to teach two undergraduate courses per semester and energetically participate in the PPE Program and its events. They will be joining an active, vigorous, and welcoming philosophical community. The PPE Program houses the international Philosophy, Politics & Economics Society, provides a regular influx of faculty on multi-year non-tenure track positions (which the program then works to place), offers an undergraduate PPE Minor, and runs an active extra-curricular program. The PPE Program is looking into offering either a PPE major or a five-year combined BA/MA PPE degree, developing a distinctive study abroad experience with two other universities, and cultivating an alumni/ae network and internship program. We will also be introducing a newly-funded PPE Distinguished Lecture Series. The PPE Program is committed to integrating abstract work in philosophy, political science, and economics with the informed and practical understanding of social, economic, political and moral problems.
