The Hamilton College Summer Program in Philosophy (HCSPiP) seeks a Pedagogy Resident and an Inclusivity Coordinator for our 2023 program. The HCSPiP is a two-week laboratory for pedagogical innovation, running this year June 25 through July 11, 2023. Three instructors will teach unique and experimental courses to twenty select undergraduates with the assistance of three class tutors. Classes are engaging, student-centered, and experimental. The HCSPiP has run successfully for three summers. The Pedagogy Resident, funded by an American Philosophical Association (APA) Small Grant, will help aid faculty and tutors in designing innovative pedagogy for their classes. The resident will improve our program by helping instructors and graduate student tutors both to reflect on their work and communicate it to a wider audience. They will coordinate pedagogical programming during the program and facilitate pedagogical outreach via post-program collaborations toward presentations and publications. In particular, the Pedagogy Resident will be asked to:
Candidates should have experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning in philosophy, a strong record of publication on philosophical pedagogy, and an interest in working collaboratively with HCSPiP instructors and tutors. The Pedagogy Resident will receive a stipend of $5,000.
