Job description

The Department of Philosophy at John Carroll University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor, starting the fall of 2023. The position is initially for one year, with a possibility of renewal up to three years.

Area of Specialization: Open

Area of Competence: Philosophy of Religion. Ability to teach one or more of the following would be an advantage: Epistemology, Metaphysics, Applied Ethics (Bioethics, Medical or Environmental Ethics), Philosophy of Race, Postcolonial Studies, Non-Western Philosophies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 4/4 load, including philosophy courses that fulfill requirements in Catholic Studies and courses for non-majors that support the University’s Integrative Core Curriculum.

Applicants should have a Ph.D in Philosophy in hand by August 2023, some teaching experience, and a promising research program.
