Job description |
The Philosophy Department at Binghamton University, State University of New York, invites applications for a lecturer position with a teaching obligation beginning August 21, 2023. The term is for up to two years, with the possibility for further renewal. Applicants should have an area of specialization in Philosophy of Law and/or Social and Political Philosophy and should be capable of teaching advanced undergraduate courses in each. Teaching competence in logic is also desirable but not required. Teaching experience prior to appointment is expected. The teaching load for the position is 3/3. The successful candidate would also be welcome in the department’s active intellectual community, which includes colloquia, reading groups, and the like. The Philosophy Department is committed to equity and inclusion and is working to increase diversity amongst its faculty. Members of groups historically underrepresented in the field and those from non-traditional backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Additionally, evidence of a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service will be valued. Binghamton University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in philosophy or closely related field by August 15, 2023.
