Job Summary
The Department of Philosophy at Gettysburg College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning August 2023. Candidates will be expected to teach six courses in the 2023-2024 year, which will include Introduction to Philosophy, additional 100-level courses, two courses at the 200-level, and a 300-level course, and be an active participant in vibrant departmental programming.  We especially welcome candidates who bring a broad and deep understanding of the history of philosophy with a focus outside the Anglo-American canon, a commitment to the ethos of the liberal arts tradition, and who can contribute to the department’s pluralistic approach to philosophy. 


Gettysburg College is a highly selective liberal arts college located within 90 minutes of the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. Established in 1832, the College has a rich history and is situated on a 220-acre campus with an enrollment of approximately 2,600 students.
