Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Texas A&M University, College Station (http://philosophy.tamu.edu ) seeks qualified applicants for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions for the 2023-24 academic year. Each position is a 9 month, full-time, non-tenure track position to teach a 3:3 load (3 undergraduate courses each in the Fall and Spring semester). The salary for this position will be $55,000.

For one position, the successful candidate must be able to teach upper-division undergraduate courses in one or more of the following upper-division undergraduate courses: PHIL 351 Epistemology; PHIL 424 Philosophy of Language; and PHIL 416 Recent British and American Philosophy, as well as one or more of the following lower-division undergraduate core curriculum courses: PHIL 251 Introduction to Philosophy; PHIL 111 Contemporary Moral Problems; and PHIL 240: Introduction to Logic (introduction to formal methods of deductive and inductive logic including, but not limited to, truth-tables, formal deduction and probability theory). Applicants should note that PHIL111 Contemporary Moral Issues must meet the Texas A&M Cultural Discourse requirements (see http://facultysenate.tamu.edu/getattachment/Committees/Core-Curriculum/CD-Rubric-(1).pdf.aspx?lang=en-US ).

For the other position, the successful candidate must be able to teach upper-division undergraduate courses in early modern philosophy: PHIL 412 17th Century Philosophy; or PHIL 413 18th Century Philosophy, as well as one or more of the following lower-division undergraduate core curriculum courses: PHIL 251 Introduction to Philosophy; PHIL 111 Contemporary Moral Problems; and PHIL 240: Introduction to Logic (introduction to formal methods of deductive and inductive logic including, but not limited to, truth-tables, formal deduction and probability theory).
