We welcome applicants with demonstrable excellent research and teaching capabilities and experience in at least two of the PPE core disciplines. In particular, we are interested in applicants specializing in the philosophy of economics, philosophy of law, or philosophy of social science. While we are open to diverse methods and areas of interest, an advantage will be given to candidates who are proficient in empirical analysis as well as theoretical scholarship and to scholars who can engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Applicants should be capable of teaching some classes of the PPE core. They should be open to collaboration with experts from other fields and areas of interest, and enthusiastic about research and teaching that defy strict disciplinary boundaries.

Job Description and Requirements:

The Department of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University sets the highest value on both research and teaching excellence. Applicants should have a proven record of excellence in research, academic publications, and teaching. The position also requires application for competitive research grants, commitment to the academic community, active participation in the department’s overall teaching and administrative work, openness to students, and sensitivity to diversity.

The principal language of instruction in the department is Hebrew, but a number of courses yearly are taught in English. Candidates who do not speak Hebrew will be expected to begin teaching in Hebrew within two years of their appointment.

The successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. from the beginning of employment.

Salary and employment conditions will conform to Tel Aviv University regulations. The appointment procedure will be carried out according to the rules and regulations of Tel-Aviv University authorities and is subject to the approval of the University authorities.

Candidates who proceed to the second stage of evaluation will be asked to have three reference letters sent directly from the senior scholars to the above address.

The Faculty of Humanities at Tel Aviv University is interested in increasing diversity, broadly defined, and in recruiting new faculty members representing a diverse multicultural society. The position is open to all candidates. The appointment will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the Department of Philosophy.
