Job description

California Lutheran University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Professor of Philosophy. Applicants must be able to teach one or more of the following classes in-person (Thousand Oaks, CA):

  • Business Ethics
  • Problems in Philosophy (Intro)
  • Philosophy and the Search for a Good Life (Intro)
  • Introduction to Feminism
  • Philosophy of Race
  • Knowledge & Power
  • Oppression & Liberation
  • Philosophy of Education
  • Ethics
  • Social Ethics
  • Environmental Ethics
  • Sports Ethics
  • Philosophy of Mind
  • Metaphysics

Applicants must have at least a MA in Philosophy, but a Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related field is preferred. AOS and AOC are open, but teaching experience (and/or strong potential), a commitment to inclusive an equitable pedagogy, and an interest in public and pre-college philosophy is desirable. This is a part-time position as the standard teaching load for adjuncts is 1-2 courses per semester.
