Philosophy – Lecturer
The Irving K. Barber School Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a full time two-year lecturer position in Philosophy. The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science. There is an expected start date of August 1, 2023. We seek applicants with a completed PhD in Philosophy at the time of appointment, relevant university teaching experience, and evidence of ability and commitment to teaching excellence. All fields of specialization will be considered. A full teaching load consists of 8 courses, based on a 3 + 3 load in Winter 2023-24 and 2 additional courses in the Summer 2024 and the following year. The applicant will teach primarily a range of first and second year Philosophy courses. Specifically, we are seeking an instructor for courses in Critical Thinking, Biomedical Ethics, and Introduction to Philosophy. In-person delivery of courses is expected. The Department of Economics, Philosophy & Political Science is housed in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science. The Faculty offers both discipline-based and interdisciplinary programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
