Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy (EXPIRED)

Exeter College proposes, if there is a suitable candidate, to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy. This is a fixed-term role, tenable from 1 January – 31 December 2024, and the postholder will teach Philosophy to undergraduates.

The Lecturer will be required to undertake 192 ‘contact’ hours of tutorial or class teaching of undergraduates of the College (or, by exchange, undergraduates of other Colleges) during the period of the appointment. In addition, they will be required to set and mark College examinations, and to participate fully in the undergraduate admissions process, in Access and Outreach activities, and in the running of Philosophy within the College.

The subjects in which the College requires teaching are as follows:

• 101 Early Modern Philosophy; and
• at least two further Philosophy papers (including at least one Finals paper), as specified in the Further Particulars.

The Lecturer will be paid at a point on the Senior Tutors’ Committee’s Register of Approved Payments for Stipendiary Lecturers (currently £29,762 - £33,348 per annum). In addition to salary, a range of other generous benefits are available, as set out in the Further Particulars.
