| Job description |
I am a published writer. I have spent the past 20 years working as a ghostwriter (specializing in memoir), but for the last year, I have been working on a project of my own. My manuscript is entitled, “So Who is God, Anyway?: an Unorthodox Theory for Doubters, Skeptics, and Recovering Fundamentalists.” I have contacts in the publishing world, and I have reason to believe this book will find a home with a mainstream publishing house. But we're going to need it to be perfect! This labor of love of mine is for a lay audience, written by a lay person. But I have been studying philosophy and theology most of my adult life (I’m 62). It’s been a hobby of mine. Over that time, I have come to lament the false choice with which most people are presented regarding God; namely, God is a bearded old man on a throne in the sky, or God does not exist. I would like to present another option, hence my book. Essentially, after a short introduction to epistemology, I take the reader on a journey through a discussion of God’s existence (using the historical arguments for and against), then a discussion of pantheism, and then I land them at the door of panentheism, leaning heavily on A.N. Whitehead. I end the book with a discussion of how all of the major religions have aspects of panentheism but, regrettably, we rarely hear about these aspects. I need someone to vet my book. Someone to fact-check it and tell me what I’ve missed or just plain got wrong. This person need not agree with my conclusions! Just make sure I got to them properly, reasonably, rationally. The manuscript is 55,000 words and I have endeavored to make it a fun, easy read. My goal has been to take the esoteric and make it approachable, even entertaining, for the average person on the street. I use a lot of humor throughout. Graduate students minimum. PhD or PhD candidates preferred. |
