Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at the University of South Florida seeks to fill two nine-month, full-time positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction in the fields of Applied Ethics and Critical Thinking. Appointments begin on August 7, 2024. The USF Tampa campus will be the primary home for one of the two positions (in Applied Ethics and Critical Thinking), while the St. Petersburg campus will be home to the other (in Applied Ethics). While some teaching duties may be performed remotely at the discretion of the department, most require physical presence; the capacity for daily travel to the home campus will be a condition of employment. Applicants wishing to be considered for only one of the two positions, or with preference for one over the other, should indicate this in their cover letters. Both positions, which are not tenure-earning, carry 4/4 teaching loads. Applicants must have Ph.D. in philosophy at the time of application. The most competitive applicants will have experience developing and teaching syllabi in two or more of the following: Critical Thinking, Introduction to Ethics, Biomedical Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Professional Ethics, and Business Ethics. Nine-month salary is $55,000, with the possibility (though no guarantee) of additional compensated Summer teaching.
