The Department of Philosophy at Stony Brook University invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Feminist Philosophy starting Fall 2024.

AOS: Feminist Philosophy

AOC: Phenomenology, Critical Theory, or Decolonial Thought

We seek a candidate with a record of research and teaching that complements the Department of Philosophy's strengths in Continental thought. The successful candidate will be expected to design and teach a range of undergraduate courses, including classes in ethics and the history of philosophy, in addition to specialized graduate seminars. We are particularly interested in applicants committed to contributing to and expanding Stony Brook's lively philosophical community. Candidates should provide evidence of teaching excellence and a strong research program, outlining scholarly plans and goals.

Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching (2/2 teaching load), dissertation and thesis supervision, and standard non-teaching duties. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

Ph.D. at the time of appointment.

Demonstrated experience teaching philosophy courses at the undergraduate level. Ability to design and teach graduate courses in feminist theory.

Articulated research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications:

Conversant in one or more of the following areas: phenomenology, critical theory, or decolonial thought.
