Job description

The Department of Philosophy and Religion is one of the leading programs in social-environmental philosophy and religion in the United States. We offer BA degrees in philosophy and religion, and MA and PhD degrees in philosophy.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI /MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

The Department of Philosophy and Religion is seeking a Lecturer to join the department in Fall 2024.

The area of competency is open but with a with a preference for candidates who can contribute to the department’s focus in Social and Environmental Philosophy, and who can teach the History of Philosophy, Ethical Theory, Logic and Critical Thinking, Feminism, and Philosophy of Art. 

The candidate will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate philosophy courses including
some of the following: Logic and Critical Thinking, Ancient Greek Philosophy, Modern European Philosophy, 20thCentury Philosophy, Ethical Theory, Feminism, Philosophy of Art.

The candidate may have the opportunity to teach graduate courses in our MA and PhD programs in philosophy that complement our department’s focus on the history of philosophy, social and political philosophy, and environmental philosophy. 

The service portion of the workload will primarily (though not exclusively) consist of undergraduate
advising, including recruitment events, philosophy club, and summer advising (with salary supplement).

Minimum Qualification:PhD in Philosophy, and Teaching experience.
