Job Title: Lecturer in Philosophy Area of Specialization: Philosophy of Science Areas of Competence: Open Background: Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Lecturer, beginning Fall 2024. The Department of Philosophy has approximately 40 full-time faculty serving over 150 majors and is located on the university’s Lakeshore Campus. Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate should have demonstrated record of excellence as a teacher and mentor in philosophy. We are seeking candidates with teaching and research specialization in Philosophy of Science—candidates should be able to teach Philosophy of Science courses at the introductory and upper-division undergraduate levels. We also have a particular interest in candidates who have demonstrated competency in environmental philosophy and/or 20th century philosophy of science. Teaching duties will be introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses. Job duties will also include service work and advising and mentoring of students. Minimum Qualifications: Requirements include PhD in Philosophy at the time of appointment. The candidate also should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
