Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Contemporary Metaphysics

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Contemporary Metaphysics, to work on the project Power Structuralism in Ancient Ontologies, which is hosted by the Faculty of Philosophy, and supported by the European Research Council. The postholder will work under the guidance of the Director of the Project, Dr Anna Marmodoro. The Fellowship is for the period 1 October 2012 to 30 September 2013, and is not renewable.

The postholder will be expected to conduct collaborative and individual research into aspects of contemporary metaphysics which are relevant to the aims of the Project, and to investigate connections between relevant themes in ancient and contemporary metaphysics. Additionally, the postholder will be expected to contribute to the Project in other ways, for example, by helping to organise conferences; by supervising the work of doctoral students; and by developing grant applications. In addition, the postholder may be asked to undertake some duties for the Faculty of Philosophy, including lecturing and examining.

The successful applicant will have an outstanding record of research in contemporary metaphysics, with evidence of, or evidence of potential for producing distinguished research in philosophy. By 1 October 2012, candidates should have received (or have submitted their thesis for) the degree of PhD.
