The Besl Chair will teach 3 undergraduate courses per year in the E/RS Focus of the core. They will hold a Ph.D. in a humanities discipline or an interdisciplinary degree in allied areas and their research and teaching will centrally address themes from the E/RS program.

The Besl Chair will contribute to the E/RS co-curricular program by presenting their own work as part of that series of events, and by collaborating with the E/RS Faculty Director in developing other events for the series. Applicants should also have a robust program of research and should be able to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue about the ethical and/or religious implications of socially significant issues.

We are strongly committed to enhancing equity, inclusion, and diversity. These values are central to our mission.
