Job description

The College of Idaho invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Religious Studies to start in Fall 2024. We seek candidates who share the College’s commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive academic community through their teaching.

The area of specialization is open, but the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to our divisional learning outcome of “engagement with non-dominant cultures and cultural products” while teaching a combination of philosophy and religious studies courses at the introductory and upper-division levels. The successful candidate will be able to teach: one upper-division section of Philosophy of Religion and two introductory sections of Introduction to World Religions in the Fall term; one upper-division course in the candidate’s specialty in the short (three-week) Winter term; and one upper-division section of Religion and Science and two introductory sections of either The Good Life or Human Nature in the Spring term.

A terminal degree in philosophy or a closely related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.

Review of candidates will begin April 15, 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
