Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a guest faculty position in Socio-Political Philosophy to begin in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will teach two courses during the academic year (either two classes in the Fall or one course each semester).

Candidates should specialize in Socio-Political Philosophy and be able to teach a course or courses in Critical Race Theory and/or Decolonial Theory, as well as have broad knowledge of the history of philosophy.

Interested candidates should submit a C.V., a one-page cover letter addressing their teaching experience in philosophy, course evaluations, proposed syllabi for two courses, and one recommendation letter, if possible, addressing teaching.

Compensation listed for this position is on a per-course basis, contingent on teaching experience.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy or have achieved ABD status. They will also have demonstrated excellence in teaching philosophy at the undergraduate level.
