Job Description The Pacific Division of the American Philosophical Association seeks to fill a position of Assistant to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Pacific Division of the APA beginning with training (with compensation), and in-position for the three-year term beginning August 1, 2024. We expect the assistant to serve a three-year term, renewable. Membership in the APA is required. Attendance at the yearly meetings of the Pacific Division of the APA required. The Pacific Division covers travel, lodging, and per diem meals for the annual meeting. Candidate should be organized, responsive, flexible, and independent, comfortable with using software and online platforms, and comfortable with responding effectively to service requests via email. Duties
Location The Pacific Division of the APA is located on the west coast of the United States and Canada, and the Assistant to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Pacific Division of the APA is expected to attend every Pacific Division meeting (usually in March or April, often during Passover and in the week preceding the Easter holiday). There are no requirements for location other than the ability and willingness of the candidate to attend the yearly meetings of the Pacific Division of the APA. Start Date In training (with compensation) beginning July 1, 2024, and in-position for the three-year term beginning August 1, 2024. Compensation Commensurate with experience. If the person hired for the position is a graduate student, the APA will endeavor to match the hourly wage normally paid to graduate student assistants at the institution where the student is enrolled. For others, the APA will offer an hourly rate appropriate to the position and consistent with prevailing wages in the area where the individual resides.
