Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Oakland University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning August 15, 2024, renewable with administrative approval for up to four years. Review of candidates to begin immediately. Area of research specialization: Open. Area of teaching competence: history of philosophy or social/political philosophy. We are also interested in candidates who are willing co-coach the Oakland University Ethics Bowl Team as part of an assigned course. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The University is located on 1,443 acres of scenic land in the cities of Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills in Oakland County, Michigan. The University offers 142 bachelor’s degree programs and 138 graduate degree and certificate programs. Academics include programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education and Human Services, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Health Sciences, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.
