Job description

Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of

Professor (W3) of Theoretical Philosophy

in the Institute of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and History. This civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible.

We are looking for a candidate with an excellent and internationally visible research record in at least one of the core areas of Theoretical Philosophy (e.g., epistemology, philosophy of language, metaphysics). The successful candidate is expected to cover the field of Theoretical Philosophy in teaching (including introductory courses). Willingness to engage in teaching cooperations and research initiatives of the Institute of Philosophy and the Goethe University is expected. The Institute of Philosophy aims to reorganise its personnel structure and invites the successful candidate to take part in the process.

Candidates are required to have a doctorate and a research output equivalent to a German habilitation in philosophy.

The professorship is also involved in teacher training; experience and concepts for teaching subject content in schools are welcome.

The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (HessischesHochschulgesetz).
