Assistant Professor (EXPIRED)

The Department of ­­­­Philosophy and Religion at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor in the Philosophy and Religion Department, with the anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will be the primary advisor for our Philosophy: Pre-Health, Medicine, and Illness major track and teach the capstone course PHIL 4940: Topics in the Philosophy of Health, Medicine, and Illness. The teaching load is 3/3, along with usual expectations for research and service.

Ideally, candidates will possess the following: 

• Strong teaching competence in medical ethics and/or general ethics
• Competency in continental philosophy  
• Ability to teach introductory/advanced courses in environmental ethics would also be desirable (though not required).

Minimum or Required Qualifications: PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment
