Job Description Summary The Philosophy Department at Bentley University (Waltham, MA) invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin July 1, 2025. AOS: AI Ethics. AOC: Open, though we are particularly interested in a scholar who combines expertise in AI Ethics with an interest in the theoretical aspect of the philosophy of Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will play a core role in the development and administration of the university’s new interdisciplinary Undergraduate Major in Artificial Intelligence, as well as contribute to and help shape other AI-related initiatives on campus. The Philosophy Department offers courses in all areas of philosophy, including the field’s theoretical, practical, and applied dimensions. We offer Major and Minor degrees and teach in the Minor in Ethics and Compliance as well as the Environmental, Social, and Governance Minor. We seek to support our students’ intellectual growth by actively engaging with them outside the classroom, for example through the Bentley Philosophy Club. The department members undertake research in various areas of philosophy.
