Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Saint Mary’s College invites applications for a non-tenure track, two-year visiting assistant professor appointment with the possibility of renewal, to begin in Fall 2025. AOS: Ethics, Health Care Ethics, Feminist Philosophy, and/or Philosophy of Gender. AOC: open. Ph.D. and teaching experience required. The department seeks above all a dynamic and effective instructor who can introduce philosophy to undergraduates in creative and compelling ways. Opportunities to teach upper-division courses to our small group of majors and minors are also available. The teaching load is seven courses per year, on a semester schedule. Our department is a small, pluralistic department with interdisciplinary connections to a number of other programs, including Gender and Women’s Studies, Justice Studies, Autism Studies, Environmental Studies, Religious Studies and Theology, Data Science, and Neuroscience. Interests that connect to these programs are welcomed. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the life of the department, with some service expectations, but no required research activity.
