Job description

Area of Specialization: Practical Ethics and/or Latin American Philosophy

The department is especially interested in applicants with expertise in the areas of technology ethics and health care ethics.

Area of Competence: Open

The department is especially interested in a scholar with competence in the philosophy of feminism, but applicants with competence in other areas of philosophy are welcome to apply.

The Department of Philosophy at The University of Scranton seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2025. Ph.D. in philosophy required by time of appointment. The University of Scranton is a Catholic, Jesuit university with a philosophy department rooted in the history of philosophy and the philosophical foundations of the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to and competency in teaching both core curriculum philosophy courses: Phil 120: Introduction to Philosophy and Phil 210: Ethics, which are both required courses for all undergraduate students at the university. The successful candidate will be grounded in the history of philosophy in their approach to both teaching and scholarship.
