The position is open to applicants in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. The eventual hire will have a home department in the College of Liberal Arts that is determined by their primary disciplinary area, in which they are expected to have an active program of scholarship or creative work. We seek an innovative scholar whose research focuses on health and society. Successful candidates may collaborate with established interdisciplinary programs within the college, such as ASL and Deaf Studies, Disability Studies, and Medical Humanities and Bioethics.

As a part of their responsibilities, the eventual hire will

  • Develop and teach courses on topics related to health and society;
  • Maintain an active and interdisciplinary research program and build a strong record of academic output (e.g., peer-reviewed articles and presentations at national or international conferences); and
  • Participate in service within the Department, College, University, and the broader academic community.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Anthropology, Communication, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, or a closely related field by the time of appointment (September 1, 2025).
