Job description |
Requirements: Master of Philosophy (MA) or equivalent in the field of ancient philosophy (or an adjacent field). Commitment to submit a PhD thesis in the field of ancient philosophy to the Department of Philosophy. Tasks and responsibilities: This is a 7/10ths position, rising to 10/10ths in the third year. The assistant will contribute to the teaching of BA courses (in French), in particular by leading tutorials (“travaux pratiques”). Tasks: - the completion of a PhD thesis, - participation in and organization of local and international conferences, - 2 h weekly seminar, - correction of work, supervision of students, - ongoing contact with philosophy teachers, - administrative tasks Salary: Fr 47'850. -- per annum for 1st year at 7/10ths (position 8/4 on the salary scale of the State of Geneva). The maximum salary is reached after 4 double annuities (Fr 81'246. -- per year at 10/10ths (position 8/12 of the salary scale). Terms employment: Assistants are appointed for an initial period of 2 years; the appointment can be extended twice, first for 2 years and finally for 1 year (thus, the maximum term is 5 years). The first year of employment is a trial period during which the employment may be terminated subject to a notice period of 3 months to the end of the month.
