Job description |
Rank will be determined at time of appointment and assistant professors with credentials appropriate for appointment at the associate rank will also be considered. The successful candidate will have a tenure home in the Department of Philosophy, with a workload split of 51% in Philosophy and 49% in the University’s interdisciplinary School of Data Science. In addition to the required AOS above, candidates must: (1) have a doctoral degree in philosophy or a related discipline (such as Science & Technology Studies) at the time of appointment; (2) provide evidence of scholarly activity appropriate for a tenured position in a philosophy department; and (3) provide evidence of successful teaching. Finalists will be asked to discuss how their teaching practices engage, include, and eliminate barriers to learning for UNC Charlotte students, and how their educational approach helps increase the engagement and success of all students regardless of their entry pathway into the university. A record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and/or extramural funding appropriate to rank at appointment is required. Workload for research intensive faculty is two courses per semester, at all levels (including graduate seminars), plus typical service duties. Salary competitive.
