About School of Philosophy Fudan University The School of Philosophy at Fudan University traces its roots to the founding of the Department of Philosophy in 1956, a pioneering institution for modern philosophical education in China. In 2006, the School of Philosophy was formally established. The School of Philosophy at Fudan University has five departments, including the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Religious Studies, the Department of Philosophy of Science and Logic, the Department of Philosophy of Art, and the Chinese Philosophy Program. There are 75 teachers in the school, including 36 professors, 26 associate professors and 9 assistant professors. The school has several interdisciplinary research institutions, including the Center for Contemporary Marxism in Foreign Countries of Fudan University, the Institute of Technology Ethics For Human Future at Fudan University, and the Institute of Arts at Fudan University, etc. The school also hosts over 800 students. In terms of degree programs, the school has 6 undergraduate majors, including philosophy, religious studies, Chinese philosophy, philosophy of art, philosophy of science and logic, and Politics, Philosophy, Economics (PPE); 9 master's majors and 11 doctoral majors, including Marxist philosophy, Contemporary Marxism in Foreign Countries, Western philosophy, Chinese philosophy, religious studies, ethics, philosophy of art, philosophy of science, and logic, etc. There is also a M.A. and Visiting Student Programs in Chinese Philosophy program, aimed to offer opportunities of learning Chinese and studying Chinese philosophy to overseas postgraduates or college juniors and seniors who have not yet been able to master the Chinese language. The program was launched in 2011, and 121 students have been enrolled in either the M.A. program (101 students) and the visiting student program (20 students). Job Descriptions: Responsibilities: To engage in high-quality research, establish new research areas in collaboration with professors of the University and outside, publish research work in international peer-reviewed journals of repute, teach courses within the School and across the University, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop external funding for research support, and participate in institution building. Required and preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in Philosophy (by time of appointment); high foreign language proficiency; strong research record; evidence of effective teaching.
