Lecturer in Philosophy

The role
The University of Bristol’s Department of Philosophy wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Philosophy. This is a fixed-term 12-month position on Pathway 3 (primary responsibility for teaching, rather than research).

What will you be doing?
The appointee will be expected to deliver lectures and seminars at undergraduate and MA level, to mark essays and exams, to supervise and mark undergraduate dissertations and MA independent-study essays, to teaching philosophical writing skills to students at various stages of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, to undertake any necessary teaching-related administration, to provide pastoral support to students, and to participate fully in the daily life of the department.

You should apply if
The appointee must have teaching and supervision specialism in Philosophy of Mathematics and competency in Philosophy of Science, or vice versa. The appointee must also be able to contribute to the teaching of first-year Logic modules and have the capacity to supervise final-year essay projects on a broad range of philosophical topics.
