Job description

The UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI, a Carnegie R1 research institution, and The Center for Practical Ethics (https://thecenterforpracticalethics.org/) invite applicants for the position of Director of Strategic Ethics Education Initiatives. This is a full-time, classified staff position with a competitive salary and benefits and will begin as soon as the candidate is able. The candidate will assist the center’s Director and Assistant Director to lead the design, development, and positioning of a suite of high-impact applied ethics education programs. This strategic role blends subject-matter expertise in ethics with experience in educational program development, applied ethics, and audience-focused content design. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other center staff to position the center as a regional and national hub for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing ethics education in interdisciplinary areas such as healthcare, business, government, nonprofit leadership, and technology.

We are a non-partisan center focused on practical ethics and civil discourse. Our events and programs help citizens disagree better and foster dialogue across difference. A high tolerance and respect for dissenting viewpoints and the ability to find common ground on contentious issues is critically important to success at TCPE, and all staff members are expected to uphold civility in their interactions with others. The successful candidate will be a part of a collaborative environment with opportunities for building connections throughout the university and for support of scholarly pursuits linked to the center's mission.
