Job description

Position Description
UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME, Notre Dame, IN. The Department of Philosophy seeks to appoint a chairholder to the newly established Jenkins Chair in Virtue Ethics. We understand virtue ethics in a very broad sense to include approaches to moral theory (contemporary or historical) which consider the normative dimensions of character traits, holistic human flourishing, and the social structures which promote such flourishing. Appointment to begin Fall Semester 2026. Rank: Full professor, endowed chair (tenured). AOS: Normative Ethics. AOC: Open. Standard teaching load in the department is 2:1 (3 classes per academic year). Duties include teaching, research, and service. Salary competitive. Semester system.  

Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy or a closely related field.
